freedom together
The basics
Freedom Together is the companion course to Language of Freedom, designed for the families and close supporters of incarcerated individuals. While their loved one works through the inside curriculum, family members engage in their own parallel process—learning the same concepts, practicing the same skills, and using the same shared language.

This dual-track approach strengthens communication, deepens trust, and lays the groundwork for healthy reconnection before release. It also supports families in their own healing, helping them navigate the unique challenges of incarceration with clarity and confidence.
why freedom together?
-
Shared Language, Stronger Bonds: Families and incarcerated loved ones learn the same tools and vocabulary, making conversations more productive and meaningful.
-
Healing for Everyone: Incarceration affects the whole family. Freedom Together offers a space for reflection, emotional processing, and personal growth.
-
Preparation for Reentry: Relationships that rebuild before release have a stronger chance of thriving after. This course helps families set healthy expectations, boundaries, and goals.
-
Breaking Cycles: Strong, informed family support reduces the likelihood of re-incarceration and fosters generational change.
how it works
Step 1: Enroll in Freedom Together
Families sign up for Freedom Together after their incarcerated loved one is enrolled in a group inside. Each participant receives the Freedom Together book and access to the group Zoom link.
Step 2: Follow Along with Your Loved One’s Journey
As your loved one works through the Language of Freedom curriculum inside, you complete the matching chapters at home. Each topic builds a shared foundation for discussion.
Step 3: Join the Private Freedom Together Community
Participants gain access to a private online group where families participate in group discussions, share stories, ask questions, and support each other.
Step 5: Prepare for Reentry—Together
As your loved one nears release, you’ll both have the tools, language, and strategies to navigate the transition with strength and clarity.
